STERLING METAL CLAY BLAZING BRACELET - WITH JANET ALEXANDER

Do you have unusable metal clay scraps or scrap silver sheet? Join us for a class where you'll learn to turn that lost material (money) into a gorgeous castings. We'll use the *cuttlebone casting technique to create a decorative center on this unusual custom bracelet. Next, we'll create "pin hinge" flexible links and a box clasp that every bracelet maker should know how to make. We'll learn intermediate/advanced soldering skills for soldering metal clay while making this unique bracelet. Finally we'll learn the secrets to pen plating gold onto silver metal clay! Put all that together and this is one heck of a class! It's jam packed with skills including:

  • Quick hidden hinges
  • Pen plating on silver
  • Soldering metal clay
  • Advanced soldering skills
  • Easy way for making duplicate parts

About Janet:

Janet is an accomplished metal artist living in Ruidoso New Mexico and author with her work shown in museums across Texas and published in books and magazines. She is a recipient  of the 2015 Saul Bell Design Award as a finalistHer work and articles are published in American Craft MagazineMetal clay Artist MagazineContemporary Metal Clay RingsMetal Clay 101 for Beaders, and in New Directions: Powder Metallurgy in a Sheet Metal World. She has written tutorials for Metal Clay Artist Magazine and Kalmbach publishing. Additionally, a newly published book (as of August 2012), Metal Clay in Color features her tutorial on carving metal clay and using alcohol inks. 
She has over 40 years experience in jewelry metal arts as a bench jeweler, designer, and instructor. She teaches at national conventions including: Art Unraveled, AdornMe, Interweave Bead Fest , Metal Clay Conferences, and many other venues. She appeared on HGTV Crafters Coast to Coast and That’s Clever demonstrating her lost wax casting and wax carving techniques. Janet has a BFA in Metals from the University of North Texas and has studied metal working with several Master Jewelers. She has GIA certification in diamond grading and stone setting.  Additionally, she has certification in Precious Metal Clay with Rio Grande, Crossover Certification with Art Clay, and is a PMC Connection Senior Instructor and Technical Adviser for the PMC Connection.
