Instructor: Andy Bally
This fun and easy one-day class will expose you to the basics of working with earthenware clay to create a custom texture tiles or molds for fusing or kiln-casting glass. We'll roll out clay slabs, and then carve and press patterns into the surface to create gorgeous designs. Students will learn the theory behind firing clay and how it compares to firing glass. Learning this technique will allow you to take your ideas and transform them into designs for making custom fused and cast glass work. We will cover lots of information including the proper use and care of your finished molds too. Works created in this workshop must dry in the studio over several days. Once dried they will be fired to bisque ware, ready to be used for glass fusing and kiln-casting. Finished work will be available for pick up one week after the workshop.
